It was Rove

For those of you who have been following the Valerie Plame story, like I have: if you haven't heard it elsewhere, it turns out that the source that leaked her identity to Novak and others was indeed Karl Rove.

If you haven't been following the story, then now's the time to start. Rove has evidently committed a felony. Follow the links.

Is that treason?

"In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation. A person who reneges on an oath of loyalty or a pledge of allegiance, and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor. Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: '...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation].'"

So, by that definition I don't think so but it is AGAINST THE LAW and he should be convicted of breaking the law. Heaven knows Bush won't get rid of him -- ala Rumsfeld.

I've been meaning to write something up about how it doesn't qualify as treason, but Klieman has done it better than I could have.
