Well.........it is over now........the fat lady sang.
I am sick at heart and sick to my stomach.
NPR reported this morning that exit polls indicated that the #1 reason voters chose Bush was not Iraq, was not Terror, was not the Economy, it was Moral Values.
And so..........they voted in the morally bankrupt administration. Unf...ing believable.
After being in Lincoln Park in '68, participating in every march, and even working for a GOOD US Senator for 7 years, I really didn't think that this is where we would be in my "later years". What happened to my generation, why couldn't we fix this? We raised our kids correctly - who are these other people!
My god................I was in Lincoln Park in '68 too. Miniver is one of my sons, so I feel that what I fought for then and throughout the years has not completely fallen on deaf ears. But these are frightening times, perhaps even more frightening than 1968.
Absolutely about our kids...but what happened to the other people's! We have to stop meeting this way, either Miniver or Indri should be able to get us together. We must compare "68 notes.
I figured it was you. In the shower I thought about what you said about what happened to our generation.........We didn't shout loud enough or whisper in enough ears when "liberal" became a dirty word! I am off to work where the 40-50 somethings were rejoicing yesterday as the television revealed Kerry had conceded. Oh, my......
A friend gave me a button "dumb & dumber" that I wore for about two weeks before the election and on election day. I now need one that says "grim & grimmer" -- the grim: 95% majority win for Marion Barry elected to DC City Council -- the grimmer you already know.
"Grim and Grimmer" - as much as I hate the circumstances under which the phrase was coined, I like it and think it most unfortunately apt. When you take the idea to market, I'll buy a half dozen.
