Liberty vs democracy

Peter Theil, famed zillionaire who founded PayPal and wants to build an offshore libertarian utopia, has a little essay published by the Cato Institute about the evolution of his libertarian ideals. Here's the money quote:

I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.

I'll keep that in mind.

Liberty and democracy are compatible, complementary even. However Peter Theil has a very limited notion of what democracy should entail.

He has a radically limited notion of liberty as well.
